Kapa Haka Group Perform at Matariki Celebration

The Waihi College Kapa Haka group recently took part in the Waihi Matariki Celebrations 2011. 

  Matariki Waihi included all of the Waihi schools, with three major events highlighting the inaugural celebrations: a dawn viewing of Matariki, Community Celebration at the Waihi Community Marae and a Matariki Hikoi to the Pumphouse, where students from each school presented their 2011 Matariki learning journey.

The newly reinstated Waihi College Kapa Haka performed at the Community Celebrations at Waihinui Marae.  The evening festival included other local entertainment, traditional Maori games, kai, crafts and the extraordinary Kahurangi Maori Dance Company.
