Happy 2026 from the Community Dental Team!
The dental service has been open sporadically over the school holidays. In Term 1, 2026 we will be open most Mondays & Tuesdays, and every second Wednesday. Currently closed on Thursdays & Fridays.
We anticipate remaining at Waihi College for all of Term 1, planning to see all 2026 Year 8 students and any Year 7 patients who are overdue.

Students have regular dental checks to ensure their teeth and gums are healthy. It is free for eligible 0 to 17 year olds. Students to Year 8 are seen by the Mobile Dental Service. From Year 9 they continue to be seen and treated for free by a private dentist until they are 17 years old – please ensure you follow this up with your local dentist.
We will begin inviting Year 8 students at Waihi College over to the mobile dental unit for appointments in Term 1, 2026. We will also be inviting some Year 7 students who are overdue. You will receive a text message with the time of your child’s appointment. To change the appointment, please phone or text us direct on 021 359 798 or email mdu8@waikatodhb.health.nz.
Parents and guardians are very important to dental health. You are most welcome to attend any appointments with your child.
Check-up appointments take about 20 minutes.
If we do not hear from you, we will assume you are not attending the appointment. Please be sure to check your child’s bag regularly for any dental notices.
