Over the next few weeks, we’re excited to introduce you to our amazing Board of Trustees by sharing a little about each of them and the passion they bring to our kura. As you know, our Board of Trustees for 2026 consist of: our Presiding Member, Tineke Iverson, our Parent Representatives Victoria Menary, Gemma Barden, Cat Sole and Karyn Williams, our Staff Representative Tracy Te Wake, and our Student Representative, Stuart Hartley. It will be great to get to know them all better and support their visions for our kura. This week, get to know Karyn Williams.

Kia ora koutou, I am excited to join the Waihi College Board of Trustees as a parent representative.

With one child still at the college and a career deep-rooted in education and business I’m honored to give back to the school that supports our community.

What I bring to the table: Education:

As a Technology and Hospitality teacher at a neighboring college, I have a “behind-the-scenes” understanding of the curriculum and the importance of vocational pathways.

Community Connection: Through my work as the Kura Kai coordinator and managing the Waihi College 1st XV Rugby team.

A Voice for All: I am a staunch advocate for student voice. Whether our rangatahi are pursuing trades, academics, or the arts, I believe every student’s journey is unique and deserves to be heard.

My goal is to ensure our board decisions reflect the diverse needs of our students while supporting our hardworking staff.
