What a way to finish our incredible performances of Revenge of the Amazons!

We couldn’t be prouder of every student who helped bring this play to life. From our talented cast on stage to our amazing backstage crew, every single person played a vital role. In fact, there are often just as many people working behind the scenes as there are under the spotlight, and their hard work ensures every performance runs seamlessly.

Our cast took on the challenge of performing live theatre with courage and commitment. Learning a script is no easy feat, especially when it includes Shakespeare! Unlike a musical, a play relies entirely on the actor’s voices, expression, and stage presence. It takes confidence, dedication, and countless hours of rehearsal, and all our students rose to the challenge brilliantly.

One of the things that made Revenge of the Amazons so special was its clever blend of Shakespearean language and humour with the spirit and social change of the 1970s. Through plenty of laughs, the play explored important themes such as gender equality, women’s rights, and consent, weaving these messages together with classic Shakespearean wit and a distinctly Kiwi sense of humour. It entertained audiences while encouraging them to reflect on issues that remain relevant today.

A very special thank you goes to our extraordinary director, Ingrid Berry. Ingrid truly is the magic behind the magic. She gives countless hours after school and on weekends, working with individual actors and the full cast, while also creating all of the choreography and designing the lighting. Directing, choreography and lighting are roles that are usually done by three different people, yet Ingrid does them all with incredible talent, passion, and dedication. We are so grateful for everything she pours into our students and our productions.

Finally, thank you to our wonderful whānau and wider community. Your support, encouragement, and the fantastic audiences each night meant so much to our students. Seeing so many of you there made all the hard work worthwhile. Congratulations to everyone involved in Revenge of the Amazons. You should all be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved.

Until the next show…
