End of Year International program

Waihi College also offers an exciting and comprehensive end of year programme. Activities run for the three weeks of our senior exam leave in November and December. We offer a wonderful range of overnight and day activities. Some we organize ourselves and some are offered through our trusted local tour operators who specialize in trips for international students.

Students together choose the activities and trips that they most want to do. The activities and costs are finalised in October each year, and students use their refundable school accounts to meet these costs.

Potential activities depending on demand:

Sightseeing to Hobbiton, Rotorua Cultural Tour, White water rafting, Waitomo Glow Worm Caves or BlackWater Rafting, Hiking Tongariro Crossing or Pinnacles near Thames, Mountain biking, Maratoto Bush Camp (Waihi), local days walks Orokawa, Homunga, Karangahake. Day trips to Coromandel Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove, Waimarino kayak and adventure park, Rainbows End Adventure park, Horse Treks, Auckland Shopping Trip.

During the year, Waihi College International Department will also offer extra excursions, usually one a term, from the list above.

There is also the opportunity for to join international students from all over NZ on South and North Island tours during school holidays, with external registered tour providers. These require your booking and consent separately from Waihi College, and travel to and from these trips are at the student’s expense.
