Homestay

International students at Waihi College will be placed with wonderful host families and options include living on a local farm, staying at Waihi Beach or with families in Waihi town. Our host families are carefully selected and are always very excited to share their homes with students from other countries. We have a student manager who will be there to support students while the director of our international programme will oversee every aspect of your child’s stay in Waihi, both in their homestay and at school.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is a term given to encompass all aspects of care, safety and wellbeing for international students. Pastoral care relates to assisting international students to participate in New Zealand culture, supporting international students to achieve their goals and encouraging best practice for student care within the export education industry.

Waihi College is a signatory for the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2021. We are required to ensure that our services for international students meet nationally consistent standards. Waihi College has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education.
