We’re grateful to have the support of Youth 24-7 here at Waihi College, with Ben, Nikita and Kyah working alongside our students this year.

Ben, Nikita and Kyah will be on site on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11.30am–12.15pm. You’ll spot them easily in their bright pink high-vis vests as they circulate the grounds during lunchtime — available for a friendly chat, building positive connections, and offering support where needed.

Their role is all about being present, approachable, and creating safe spaces for our rangatahi to talk things through. If any playground concerns arise, they’ll refer these through to our Senior Leadership Team, and they’re also keen supporters of our lunchtime initiatives, including sports and other activities that help keep our grounds active and inclusive.

Many of our students have already enjoyed connecting with Ben, Nikita and Kyah in the past, and we’re delighted to have them back. On Mondays, the 24-7 youth team will be based at Te Awa Whakamua, continuing their great mahi and supporting young people in that space as well.
