Here are a few competitions that are on now.  Check out the links and see what you might be interested in. Lots have deadlines in April so get in quick!

  • Future Problem Solving Future Problem Solving is a highly regarded and well-researched international educational program that develops creative, critical and caring thinking skills in students from Year 1 – Year 13. Students grapple with global and community issues, identify underlying problems and create positive solutions to those issues. Above all, it aims to give young people the skills to design and promote positive futures as citizens of the 21st Century.   • Tournament of Minds(ToM)is a problem solving programme for teams of students from both primary and secondary years. ToM’s aim is to enhance the potential of our youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment. Registrations are open now until July 5th. Fees apply.
  • Sargeson Prize– short story competition 2024 entries open April 1st 2024 and close June 30 2024. See the winners of the 2022 Sargeson Prize for short story writing.
  • Problem challenge(years 6 – 8 but yr 5s can enter as y6) – registrations open on February 19th.
  • Showquest 2024– entries close March 1st 2024
  • Junior Mathematics competition– for years 9 – 11. Entries close April 8th.
  • Toi– wearable arts 2024 – entries close April 5th 2024 – 2023 Junior examples, 2023 Senior examples.
  • Toitoiinvites young writers and artists ages 5-18 who are curious, courageous and creative to submit original material in English or te reo Māori that reflects the cultures and experiences of life in New Zealand. Next submission date is May 31, 2024.
  • Elsie Locke Writing Prize– submission deadline April 13th 2024. Winner of Elsie Locke prize 2023

  • Spelling Beeyears 1 – 10 in-school. National Spelling Bee for years 9-10.
